E-Commerce
These days a web-site is fundamental to retailers. Not only does it provided the retailers’ customer with information; it opens up a new shop window allowing a further sales channel if the retailer desires.
A fundamental design prerequisite for LOIS was seamless interaction between shop and web. This has been achieved by all applications channelling through to the same
data-source in real time. Because of this, stock control becomes highly accurate to-the-second and no longer relies on overnight polling.
The LOIS web-site engine uses an algorithm to select web-sales-stock live from the most efficient location based on the retailers requirements. It could be where the most abundance of that stock is, from the warehouse if there is one, or by postage cost consideration.
It also priorities who can have the stock if there is just one item left in the company. In store, the till user has final control if that is where the stock is coming from. Web-sale transaction notifications are instant, audible and through the messaging system with head office users copied in live.
